1963.53Ancient glass with its iridescence, created by chemical changes that occurred during centuries underground, fascinated nineteenth-century artists. In 1892, Louis Comfort Tiffany developed Favrile glass, handmade objects with variegated colors imitating ancient forms. His glass incorporates applied threading and drops, decorative techniques also developed by ancient glassblowers.
